Amanda Rohn, MD, FACOG, MSCP is an obstetrician gynecologist with VHC Health Physicians - Charlotte S. Benjamin Center for Women's Health
Dr. Rohn grew up in Cleveland, Ohio and studied computer engineering and German at Case Western Reserve University. After college, she lived and worked in northern Virginia for two years and met her future husband. She soon realized that she preferred to interact with people instead of computers and decided to direct her skills toward a career in medicine.
She traveled to Missouri where she graduated from the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and then to Philadelphia for an OB-GYN residency at the University of Pennsylvania. During residency, she served as administrative Chief Resident and received the Robert A. Rascoe Award for Excellence in Ambulatory Care and the Golden Mitt Award for collaborative practice with midwives. Her research project on the use of checklists to improve the safety of labor induction won the Resident Research Award.
Dr. Rohn has practiced at Virginia Hospital Center since 2013 and joined VHC Health Physicians in 2020. At VHC Health, she has continued to focus on patient safety and quality improvement, serving on multiple hospital committees. She has served as Department Chair and Vice Chair. She is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University, and teaches forceps delivery, vaginal hysterectomy, and other skills to OB/GYN residents via simulation.
Dr. Rohn loves taking care of patients throughout their lifespan, from adolescence through pregnancy and menopause and beyond. Her practice philosophy focuses on evidence-based care, shared decision-making, and the recognition that more is not always better. She has particular interests in high-risk obstetrics, abnormal Pap smears, and menopause management and is a Certified Menopause Practitioner as well.
Outside of work, Dr. Rohn enjoys baking, knitting, yoga, and being outdoors. She lives in Washington, DC, with her husband and 3 children (all born at VHC).
