Deborah "Debbie" Smith, CNM, DNP is a certified Nurse-Midwife with VHC Health Physicians - Charlotte S. Benjamin Center for Women's Health.
Deborah grew up on the Gulf Beaches in St. Petersburg, Florida. She received her Bachelors in Nursing from the University of South Florida in 1991. Debbie also worked as a maternity nurse in Melbourne, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia until her graduation from Emory University in 1997 with her Masters in Nurse-Midwifery. She then graduated with her Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Marymount University in 2021.
Debbie practiced as a Certified Nurse-Midwife delivering babies at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia until 2003 at which time she moved to the DC area to spend more time with her husband and children. At this time, she began to teach nursing. She resumed working as a Certified Nurse-Midwife at Arlington Women’s Center from 2014 and joined the VHC Health OB/GYN team in 2020. Debbie also still teaches at Marymount University.
Debbie married her college sweetheart in 1991 and they have two sons. She roots for the Virginia Tech Hokies as her children are alumni. She loves to travel, sew and spend time with her boys.
