Benny S. Kim, MD is a Neurointerventional Surgeon and Vascular Neurologist as well as a founding member of the VHC Health Physicians - Neurology department. Prior to joining VHC Health, Dr. Kim was employed by the George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates to provide Neurointerventional and Neurology services.
A California native, Dr. Kim received his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles. He then enrolled in the Columbia University Post-baccalaureate premed program while doing research in Alzheimer’s disease at Paul Greengard laboratory at Rockefeller University. Dr. Kim graduated with his medical degree from St. George’s University in 2008.
Dr. Kim completed his Neurology Residency at the State University of New York, Stony Brook University Medical Center in 2012, where he served as Chief Resident his final year. He has completed several fellowships; Vascular Neurology Fellowship at the Case Western Reserve University and Interventional Neuroradiology Fellowship at Lahey Hospital and Medical Center. Prior to moving to Virginia, he worked as a Neurointerventionalist and Vascular Neurologist at the Texas Stroke Institute in the Dallas-Forth Worth region for 3 years.
Dr. Kim performs the full spectrum of Neurointerventional procedures, including endovascular aneurysm treatment, mechanical thrombectomy for strokes, cerebral and spinal angiograms, endovascular treatment for dural arteriovenous fistulas, and embolization procedures of the head, neck, and spine. Clinically, Dr. Kim is interested in managing the most complex or critically ill cerebrovascular patients.
Since joining VHC Health, Dr. Kim has been voted as a Top Doctor by his peers in both Washingtonian and Northern Virginia Magazines several times.
