Robert Mordkin, MD, FACS graduated with Alpha Omega Alpha honors from the University of Southern California Medical School, and completed both his surgical internship and his urological surgery residency at Georgetown University Hospital, Washington, DC. He served as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Naval Reserve and received advanced training in reconstructive urology at the Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC.

Dr. Mordkin first joined the full-time faculty in the Georgetown University Hospital Department of Urology as their Director of Laparoscopic Urology and was the first urologist in Washington, DC, to perform a laparoscopic prostatectomy.

Following his career at Georgetown, Dr. Mordkin became the Director of Robotic and Laparoscopic Urologic Surgery at the Rush-Riverside Medical Center and was an early adapter of the da Vinci robot in performing numerous robot-assisted laparoscopic surgeries.

Since July 2005, Dr. Mordkin has been with the VHC Health Physicians – Urology. During this tenure, he has served as the Chief of Urology and the Director of Robotic & Laparoscopic Surgery at VHC Health. His practice is focused on minimally invasive surgery, including robotics, in the management of urologic malignancies such as cancers of the adrenals, kidneys, bladder, testes and prostate.

Dr. Mordkin earned Master Surgeon in Robotic Surgery accreditation with the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC) for upholding the highest quality and patient safety standards and also participates in VHC Health’s Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery.
