A Midwest native, Dr. Potru graduated from the Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and completed her residency in internal medicine at the Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. She then pursued a fellowship in gastroenterology at the Albany Medical Center in Albany, NY, where she developed a fondness for the East Coast. During fellowship, Dr. Potru won first prize in the House Staff Scholarly Research Competition for her translational research project entitled “Decreased Intestinal NHE3 Expression by mTOW Inhibition and its Implication in Rapamycin-Related Diarrhea in Renal Transplant Recipients”, She presented this research at the American Gastroenterology Association National Meeting in 2012, and has also presented numerous other abstracts at national gastroenterology meetings in the fields of transplant hepatology and pancreatic disease. She has co-authored review articles in inflammatory bowel disease, the most recent of which was published in a peer-reviewed journal in 2013. Her clinical interests include inflammatory bowel disease, functional GI disorders and women’s health. Dr. Potru is board-certified in internal medicine and board-eligible in gastroenterology. In her spare time, Dr. Potru enjoys biking, traveling, reading and baking.
