Christopher Ryan, MD, FAAFP earned his Bachelors of Arts degree from the University of Notre Dame, graduating with cum laude honors in 1986. He then attended Georgetown University School of Medicine and graduated in 1990, before completing residency at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1993. Since completing his residency, Dr. Ryan worked as a family medicine physician at Mid-Atlantic Permanente Medical Group, before joining VHC Physician Group – Primary Care Old Town in the spring of 2019.
Dr. Ryan is a fellow of the American Academy of Family Medicine. He has received numerous awards during his career, including the Top Doctor recognition from Washingtonian Magazine in 2014 to 2019, and the Top Doctor recognition from Northern Virginia Magazine in 2011 to 2017 and 2019.
Dr. Ryan has a clinical interest in preventative medicine, general family medicine, and sports medicine. He has an individualized, empathetic approach to patient care. During patient encounters, Dr. Ryan focuses on listening to each of his patients, approaching issues from their perspective, and discussing current treatment options that meet their needs within the standard of care.
Outside of work, Dr. Ryan enjoys playing and watching sports, American History, and spending time with his wife, Roberta, and their two sons.
