Dr. Kuperschmit is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. Prior to joining the practice, Dr. Kuperschmit was the therapeutic endoscopy fellow at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City where he specialized in advanced endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) as well as endoscopic ultrasound (EUS). This followed his gastroenterology training at UMDNJ in New Jersey. He received his Internal Medicine training at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine at the Montefiore Hospital, where he won the Leo M. Davordoff award for clinical teaching. Dr. Kuperschmit was lead author in a 2006 review of endoscopic ultrasound in the Journal of Surgical Oncology. He has also presented several abstracts in the field of advanced endoscopy at national gastroenterology meetings, most recently in 2007 at the American Gastroenterology Association Conference. He received his M.D. from the Howard University College of Medicine and his B.S. from Duke University. He grew up in Northern Virginia and attended Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology.
