Joseph M. Kiernan MD FACC FSCAI
Joseph M. Kiernan, MD, specializes in general, preventative and interventional cardiology to treat a number of conditions, including valvular heart disease, congestive heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. He is skilled in the use of stress testing and echocardiography to diagnosis cardiac conditions and performs endomyocardial biopsies, cardiac catheterization with coronary stenting, aortic balloon valvuloplasty and implantation of percutaneous ventricular assist devices. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease, interventional cardiology and internal medicine. “Excellent cardiac care enables patients to modify their risk factors for developing illness. However, when acutely needed, we have so many effective therapies and interventions to improve their outcomes,” he said.
Dr. Kiernan earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University and pursued his residency at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, where he also completed a fellowship in cardiology.
In his free time, Dr. Kiernan enjoys golf, skiing and traveling with his wife, children and grandchildren.
