Dr. Nayak completed his undergraduate degree, magna cum laude, from Georgetown University, and earned his MD and MHS degrees from the Yale University School of Medicine. While at Yale, he was awarded a Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) research fellowship to study the genetics of cerebrovascular diseases. He went on to complete his neurosurgical training at the University of Pennsylvania, Department of Neurosurgery in Philadelphia, PA, and a clinical spine fellowship at Wellington Regional Hospital in Wellington, NZ. He has co-authored over 20 peer-reviewed publications, and has a specific interest in functional outcomes following spine surgery.

Dr. Nayak performs most aspects of general neurosurgery with a special focus on minimally invasive, complex, and image-guided spinal surgery for degenerative, traumatic, and oncologic conditions. He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons, and AOSpine.
