Specialties:

Trauma Surgery / Critical Care
  • Virginia Hospital Center Physician Group

Olivia LaRussa, PA-C joined the Trauma Surgery team at VHC Health in the fall of 2024, bringing her expertise in trauma surgery, emergency medicine and austere care to the role. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the Honors College at the College of Charleston, graduating summa cum laude, and later completed her Master of Medical Science at Wake Forest School of Medicine’s Department of Physician Assistant Studies.

Olivia began her career at one of the highest-volume Level 1 trauma centers in the country, located in South Carolina. After gaining valuable experience there, she moved to Virginia to continue practicing trauma surgery. She has since developed a passion for austere medicine—delivering healthcare in remote, resource-limited environments, including international settings where access to medical infrastructure is minimal. Olivia has also worked in emergency medicine at George Washington University, managing acutely ill patients and providing care in high-pressure situations.

Throughout her career, Olivia has demonstrated a commitment to patient-centered care, whether working in trauma surgery, emergency medicine or austere environments. She combines hands-on clinical expertise with a focus on personalizing treatments to meet the specific needs of her patients.

Outside of medicine, Olivia is a certified personal trainer. She enjoys staying active by spending time outdoors, hiking, and playing sports, with a particular love for beach volleyball and indoor sports.
