Dr. Pullarkat is a board-certified Trauma and Critical Care Surgeon who joined VHC Health's Trauma team in September 2024. With over 25 years of experience in trauma surgery, general surgery and surgical critical care, he brings extensive expertise to the role. Dr. Pullarkat earned his medical degree from Boston University after completing a six-year BA/MD program, followed by a general surgery residency at Baystate Medical Center in Massachusetts and a fellowship in surgical critical care at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center.

Before joining VHC Health, Dr. Pullarkat held trauma and general surgery positions in San Antonio, Texas; Altoona, Pennsylvania; Dayton, Ohio; and Northern Virginia, where he has worked since 2007. His leadership experience includes serving as Assistant Trauma Medical Director and Director of Surgical Critical Care. He also serves as a reviewer for the Commonwealth of Virginia's trauma center certification.

Dr. Pullarkat is certified by the American Board of Surgery in both Surgery and Critical Care. His clinical expertise spans trauma surgery, emergency surgery and surgical critical care, and he holds instructor certifications in Advanced Trauma Life Support, Fundamental Critical Care Support, Advanced Burn Life Support and Advanced Trauma Operative Management.
