Preya Simlote, MD a general cardiologist who joined VHC Physician Group in 2022.
Originally from Southern Maryland, Dr. Simlote started her training in the accelerated 6 year combined BS-MD program at Pennsylvania State University. After completing her Bachelor of Science in 2 years at Penn State, she went on to obtain her medical degree from the Sidney Kimmel Medical College at Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia.
She moved to Rochester, NY to complete her Internal Medicine residency at University of Rochester Strong Memorial Hospital before returning to Philadelphia for fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at Thomas Jefferson University. During her fellowship training, she was recognized with an award for Outstanding Academic Achievement in the field of echocardiography.
After fellowship, Dr. Simlote practiced at Thomas Jefferson University as a General Cardiologist and Clinical Assistant Professor. Her areas of clinical practice include echocardiography, nuclear cardiology, preventative medicine including lipid disorders, heart failure, cardiomyopathy, valvular heart disease, and hypertensive disorders. She has a special clinical interest in Women’s Health and the unique ways in which heart disease affects women.
In her free time, Dr. Simlote enjoys traveling, dancing, cooking new recipes, reading, and spending time with her extended family all over the DMV.
