Dr. Andrea Williams established Capital Women's Care (Women To Women PC) Complete OB/GYN Care in 1995 a year after she finished her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital. Her desire was to give personalized supportive care in a friendly environment, to women of all backgrounds.
Dr. Williams was born in Washington, D.C. She lived in various places on the East Coast and the continent of Africa before completing high school. She attended Spelman College in Atlanta, GA and graduated with a Bachelors of Arts in Mathematics with a minor in Biochemistry. She then matriculated at Boston University for her medical training. Because of her strong interest in international health, Dr. Williams then went to Harvard University and obtained a Masters of Public Health. Her concentration was Maternal and Child Health Care and International Health. Her Obstetrics and Gynecology Residency was completed at Georgetown University.
Dr. Williams greatly enjoys medicine with her wonderful team of doctors and support staff. She is thoroughly trained to care for all aspects of Obstetrics and Gynecology. This ranges from Laparoscopic Surgery to Vaginal Breech Delivery. Her special areas of interest are adolescent gynecology, HPV/abnormal Pap smear, and high-risk obstetrics. Dr. Williams realizes that women have been delivering babies successfully for centuries so she finds it equally as exhilarating delivering normal pregnancies.
Dr. Williams has traveled extensively. She has provided health care in East Africa and Honduras, and she is committed to serving those in developing countries. She hopes to continue in her father's footsteps, the winner of the United Nations' 2005 World of Children Award for his work in developing countries.
Dr. Williams sits on numerous committees. She was the former Vice President of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington. She also is the Clinical Assistant Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Georgetown University Hospital. She has been voted a "Top Doctor" in Washingtonian and Northern Virginia magazines.
Dr. Williams' first love is her family, husband, and three boys. She is an avid reader, enjoys traveling, biking and playing soccer. She speaks Swahili fluently and Spanish.
