Inpatient Program
(Detoxification & Rehabilitation)
Your addiction treatment at VHC Health often begins with a medically controlled and safe detoxification process. After detox, you'll be referred to follow-up treatment, such as:
- Inpatient treatment program here
- Residential treatment in another facility
- Another level of care, typically intensive outpatient care
Goals
If you stay for our rehabilitation program, you'll take a psychosocial assessment to determine your individual educational plan. Your plan complements the four major goals of treatment:
- Education: To teach you the chronic disease model of addiction
- Self diagnosis: To help you understand and accept your addiction
- Community resources: To educate you about effective methods for treating chronic disease on an ongoing basis to maintain abstinence from alcohol and other mood-altering substances. This will focus largely on the tools of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
- Personal Responsibility: To help you take personal responsibility for ongoing recovery in order to prevent relapse

Length of Stay
Your length of stay in the inpatient program is based on:
- Medical need
- Educational needs
- Desire for rehabilitation
- Recommendations by the treatment team and referral sources
You'll transition to other levels of care based on these considerations.
Program
The program features a series of lectures and specialized education groups about an addictive disease. Understanding the nature of the illness, its cause, progression and effective management is the focus of counseling and task-centered group work. You'll work with the counseling and nursing staff to learn about your addictive disease.
During treatment, you'll be introduced to the philosophy and proper use of Alcoholics Anonymous and Narcotics Anonymous.
Therapies
You may benefit from the following therapies:
- Evidence-based alcohol detoxification and rehabilitation
- Meditation education and spiritual care
- Gym for medically stable patients
To help you, your family and friends understand the disease of addiction and how it affects everyone, join free sessions of the Concerned Persons Group, part of our outpatient program.
Coordinated Care
To provide overall acute mental health treatment, the substance abuse detoxification program works with our outpatient addiction treatment and behavioral health program.
