Fibroids
Fibroids are non-cancerous uterine muscle growths. They are quite common and occur in up to 85% of women.
Symptoms of fibroids may include:
- Abnormal or heavy menstrual bleeding
- Constipation
- Feeling full after eating just a little
- Frequent urination
- Increasing abdominal girth
- Pelvic pain/pressure
Your doctor can diagnose fibroids using a pelvic exam, ultrasound and sometimes an MRI.
Fibroid treatments include hormonal birth control pills, IUDs and injectable medications. A surgeon can remove them to relieve pain, reduce menstrual flow, or preserve fertility.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) Infections
HPV is a family of viruses that are sexually transmitted. There are different types of HPV. Some types of HPV can cause genital warts (small, external, fleshy growths) or cell changes that may lead to cervical cancer. The best way to stop HPV is to get vaccinated.
Treatment of genital warts includes prescription topical creams, in-office chemical removal of warts, and surgical removal with laser or ultrasound.
A routine Pap test can diagnose HPV by detecting moderate to severe cervical changes. In these cases, your doctor may remove HPV using a loop electrosurgical excisional procedure (LEEP) or cone biopsy. These are outpatient procedures that remove abnormal cells from the cervix
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
We can diagnose, manage and treat STDs.
Urinary Tract Infection (UTI)
A urinary tract infection (UTI) is a bacterial or fungal infection of the bladder that may progress to an infection of the kidneys.
Signs of a UTI may include:
- Blood in the urine
- Burning with urination
- Feeling like the bladder is not empty
- Frequent urination
- Low back pain and fever
Your doctor will ask for a urine sample to diagnose your condition. Testing your urine helps identify the type of bacteria and the antibiotics that will work best to treat it. Antibiotics begin treating the UTI within 24 to 36 hours. Your doctor may also recommend drinking plenty of water and taking over-the-counter cranberry pills to relieve your symptoms
Yeast Infection
A yeast infection is a fungal infection of the vagina, vulva or both.
Signs of a yeast infection include:
- Burning or stinging sensation
- External discomfort with urination
- Itching
- Thick white discharge
Diagnosing a yeast infection involves a physical exam and discharge evaluation using a microscope.
You can use over-the-counter medications like Monistat to treat a yeast infection and relieve your symptoms.
If over-the-counter medications do not work, contact your doctor. Sometimes doctors prescribe an anti-fungal medication.
Abnormal Bleeding
Abnormal bleeding can have many causes, including fibroids, polyps, cancer, hormonal imbalances, and other conditions. We can diagnose and manage abnormal bleeding.
Endometriosis
Endometriosis is when uterine tissue grows on other organs in the body. This condition can be painful for women and, in some cases, may make it difficult to become pregnant. There are many ways to manage endometriosis, including pain medication, fertility medication, and hormone therapy.
Urinary Incontinence
Incontinence is when you leak urine from your bladder. Loss of bladder control is a symptom of several medical conditions or diseases. Female incontinence may be associated with urges to urinate, stress, or physical activities. Rely on us to diagnose and treat or manage urinary incontinence based on your condition.
Vaginitis
Vaginitis is inflammation of the vagina. It can happen to women of any age and can cause discharge, pain during sex or urination, burning and itching. After a diagnosis, your doctor will treat vaginitis using medication that targets the specific cause.
