Sending Gifts to Women and Infant Health

A close loved one is giving birth at Virginia Hospital Center - congratulations! This is an exciting and emotional time for friends and family whether near or far. We understand that you might want to send support to your loved one while they are in the hospital.

Sending Gifts to Patients in Women and Infant Health

Many friends and family members desire to send gifts (flowers, pastries, meals, balloons, etc.) to the birthing person's hospital suite to extend a token of their love and support. There are many wonderful local businesses in our area which have worked with the hospital for many years and are great choices for your celebration. To ensure a successful delivery, please:

  • Ensure the delivery clearly notes the recipient's (patient's) first and last name, and room number (if possible).
  • The gift should be brought to the Women and Infant Lobby (Zone C) first floor information desk.
  • The Address is 1705 North George Mason Drive, Arlington, VA 22205.
  • Security at the Women and Infant Health lobby will call to the patient's room. A nurse from the unit will retrieve the gift from the lobby.

Security Measures for Women and Infant Health

Infant security is our top priority at Virginia Hospital Center. Please read the following visitation and security procedures that are in place to protect your newborn’s safety:

  • Deliveries (food, flowers, etc.) from outside of the facility must be picked up in Lobby C in the Women & Infant building.
  • Outside vendors are not permitted to enter the Postpartum Unit, NICU or Labor & Delivery Unit.
