Our 2021 Breast Cancer Survivorship celebration held extra special meaning for many in attendance. It was the 26th celebration for the annual event, during which VHC team members, patients, and family members come together for a day of reflection and fun. Connecting with a supportive community is one of the most critical components of the breast cancer journey. This connection was perhaps even more important over the past year, as many patients could not see friends and family members, or have visitors with them during their Hospital appointments. VHC’s Shari Sitron, Director of Oncology Support Services, recently spoke to WJLA7 about this year’s event, and how important it is for survivors to connect to a supportive community to help navigate diagnosis, treatment and survivorship.
