Becker's Hospital Review: 168 top maternity hospitals, state by state
By Erica Carbajal
Newsweek has released its third annual list of best maternity hospitals in the U.S., and 404 hospitals made the ranking.
The magazine collaborated with Statista, a global data and business intelligence portal, to compile the ranking, which assigns either a four-or-five-star ribbon to hospitals. Five-star ribbon performance is the highest rating category on the list.
The ranking is based on three main pillars: data from nationwide surveys of healthcare professionals and hospital managers with knowledge of maternity processes; patient survey data; and hospital quality metrics data. The full methodology can be found here.
For this year's edition, several additional indicators on hospital quality metrics and maternal care were considered, Newsweek said in a May 8 report describing how it determined the top hospitals.
"In addition to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services metrics included in previous editions, this year's edition also incorporates data on sepsis care and personnel vaccination (including influenza and COVID-19 vaccination among health care personnel,)" Statista said in the report.
Below are the 168 hospitals that received the five-ribbon ranking from Newsweek, organized by state.
