David Lee, MD, Named Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at Virginia Hospital Center
Arlington, VA: November 23, 2020 – Virginia Hospital Center (VHC), a community-based hospital providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 75 years, has named David Lee, MD as Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer (CMO) effective January 1, 2021.
Dr. Lee is the current President of VHC’s Medical Staff and serves as the Operating Room Medical Director at Dominion Anesthesia. He will continue these roles through the remainder of the calendar year while transitioning to the CMO position and joining the VHC Executive Staff full time.
“I am looking forward to taking on a new role as Chief Medical Officer of Virginia Hospital Center,” said Lee. “VHC has been my home for three decades, and I look forward to my next chapter at the Hospital working with our incredible team to continue providing top-quality patient care.”
David Lee has been with Virginia Hospital Center for 30 years. Dr. Lee has served as the Operating Room Medical Director at Dominion Anesthesia since 2007 and was elected President of the VHC Medical Staff in 2018. In addition to his current roles at VHC, Dr. Lee is on the VHC and VHC Foundation Board of Directors.

As CMO of VHC, Dr. Lee will be responsible for overseeing the clinical and quality initiatives that advance the Hospital’s mission to provide low-cost, high-value healthcare to the community. He will also oversee Virginia Hospital Center’s resident and student education in affiliation with Georgetown University and MedStar Health.
Dr. Lee has received numerous honors in his time at VHC, including the distinction of “Top Doctor” from Washingtonian, Virginia Living, and Checkbook Magazines. In addition to his work at VHC, Dr. Lee served as Chairman of the Board at the Arlington Free Clinic from 2010-2012 and was a member of the clinic’s Board of Directors from 2006-2012. He currently serves as the Membership Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Arlington Medical Society and was the organization’s president in 2004. A long-time resident of Arlington County, Dr. Lee is a proud alumnus of Wakefield High School and was inducted into the school’s Alumni Hall of Fame in 2013.
Dr. Lee holds a Bachelor of Arts with Distinction and a Doctorate of Medicine from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, VA. He is married with four children and is an avid ice hockey fan who coaches in his spare time at the Potomac School and Reston Raiders Hockey Club.
