Arlington, VA: June 9, 2020 – Virginia Hospital Center (VHC), a community-based hospital providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area for 75 years, is pleased to announce that William D. Anderson, MD, MHCM, has been appointed to serve as the new Senior Vice President of the VHC Physician Group.

Dr. Anderson will oversee the VHC Physician Group - a multi-specialty group comprised of over 100 members of primary care physicians and a wide range of specialists located across Northern Virginia. His responsibilities include strategic direction, expansion of services and physician recruitment and engagement.

“The caliber of physicians and the incredible collaborative environment has made the VHC Health System very successful,” said Dr. Anderson. “I’m looking forward to working with this exemplary group of physicians to expand the reach of their incredible patient care practices.”

Dr. Anderson has a proven track record providing clinical leadership around strategy and operational decisions such as Cerner and Epic deployment, revenue cycle implementation, group compensation plans and quality improvement efforts. Dr. Anderson successfully lead the University of South Carolina’s ACO, developing relationships to expand narrow network contracts and managing their 18,000 self-insured employees.

Dr. Anderson previously served as the President of Prisma Health, a University of South Carolina Medical Group formed over three years ago with the merger of USC Specialty Clinics and the Palmetto Health Physician Network. Dr. Anderson’s education includes a Master of Science from Harvard University, a Family Medicine Residency from Medical University of South Carolina, an M.D. Degree from Medical University of South Carolina, and a B.S. Biology degree from the University of South Carolina.
