VHC Health Recognized with an ‘A’ Grade for the Fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade

Arlington, VA (November 16, 2022) – VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, was awarded an ‘A’ for the fall 2022 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade rating. This is VHC Health’s 21st consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade, making it one of 30 hospitals in the nation and only 6 in Virginia to have reached this status.

“VHC Health is delighted to receive our 21st consecutive ‘A’ grade from the Leapfrog Group,” said Chris Lane, President & CEO, VHC Health. “These Hospital Safety Grades are a vital and quick way for consumers to make informed decisions about a critical aspect of their hospital stay – safety. This is an outstanding achievement for VHC Health and shows our deep commitment to the community we serve.”

The Leapfrog Group is an independent national watchdog organization committed to health care quality and safety. Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades of ‘A’, ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’, or ‘F’ are assigned to nearly 3,000 general acute-care hospitals across the nation twice a year. Grades are based on each hospital’s performance in preventing harm to patients, including medical errors, injuries, accidents, and infections. The Hospital Safety Grade has been cited as the gold standard measure of patient safety.

“Receiving this ‘A’ grade is evidence of our success in providing high quality healthcare to every individual,” said Chief Medical Officer Brian Stone, MD, MBA. “As VHC Health’s capacity to provide innovative treatments and top-quality care increases, we will continue with our highest dedication to put patient safety first.”
