VHC Health and Arlington County Sheriff’s Office Host Bingo For Breast Cancer Awareness
Fundraiser to benefit VHC Health’s Women’s Imaging Center and support early breast cancer detection
Arlington, VA (October 25, 2023) – VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, and the Arlington County Sheriff's Office today hosted its annual Bingo for Breast Cancer Awareness event. This fundraiser benefits VHC Health’s Women’s Imaging Center to support early breast cancer detection.
“We are incredibly grateful for the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office continued partnership,” said Chief of VHC Health’s Women’s Health Center Dr. Kelly Orzechowski. “Breast cancer persists as one of the most common types of cancer in women in the United States and early detection is key to increase positive patient outcomes. These vital donations from the Bingo for Breast Cancer Awareness will aid early breast cancer detection, especially for those without insurance or who are underinsured."
The partnership between VHC Health and the Sheriff’s Office was inspired by Corporal Sheila Turner and Inmate Service Counselor Kyle Denny, who are breast cancer survivors and received their treatment at VHC Health. Bingo for Breast Cancer Awareness has been held annually since 2017 and over the years the Arlington County Sheriff’s Office has generously donated over $18,000.
“Our mission to support early breast cancer detection hits close to home for so many and we are proud to support VHC Health and its Women’s Imaging Center,” said Arlington County Sheriff Jose Quiroz. “We saw firsthand the quality care VHC Health provided our team members when they were diagnosed with breast cancer and knew we wanted to support the accessibility of that care to anyone who needed it in our community.”
The Women’s Imaging Center at VHC Health is recognized as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence by the American College of Radiology.
