VHC Health (Virginia Hospital Center) Receives CHIME Most Wired Recognition…Again.

Arlington, VA (February 7, 2023) –
VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, has earned the 2022 College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) 2022 Digital Health Most Wired recognition as a certified level 9.

“This ranking puts us in the top 25% of the "performance excellence" category of health systems in the country,” said Mike Mistretta, Chief Information Officer at VHC Health. “We are proud to achieve this level as we continue exceptional dedication to excellence in digital health. At VHC Health, we believe patients receive better care when you drive innovation through digital advancements.”

The Digital Health Most Wired survey and recognition program serves as a comprehensive “digital health check-up” for healthcare organizations. According to Digital Health Insights, organizations in level 9 or 10 are often leaders in healthcare technology who actively push the industry forward.

“Digital transformation in healthcare has accelerated to an unprecedented level since 2020, and the next few years will bring a wave of medical technology that will help VHC Health clinicians deliver the highest quality of care by helping them to focus on the patients’ needs,” said Chris Lane, CEO & President, VHC Health. “VHC Health has always been aggressive in the adoption of the latest medical technology, and now, new developments in Artificial Intelligence and Population Health are creating opportunities for VHC Health in healthcare technology.”

Some of the advanced technologies VHC Health is using to achieve meaningful outcomes, improved quality of care, improved patient experience and broader patient access to healthcare services include telehealth solutions, access to data at the point of care, and tools to engage patients and their families throughout the care process.

Starting this fall, new kiosks were brought to the VHC Health campus that use biometric facial recognition and have special features to expedite check in. VHC Health is the first health system in the region to deploy this technology, which offers advanced security and authentication. VHC Health is also working to streamline processes to make authorization forms easier to complete. Instead of filling out the same forms at each appointment, VHC Health’s new Annual Access and Authorization process allows patients to sign the Annual Access form once a year and they’re done. VHC is also working toward employing artificial intelligence (AI) software to read CT images before the radiologist even receives, providing a second set of eyes for the radiologist and speeding up workflow.
