VHC Health Recognized as High Performing for Maternity Care (Uncomplicated Pregnancy) for 2024, U.S. News & World Report

Arlington, VA (December 14, 2023) –
VHC Health, a community-based health system providing medical services to the Washington, DC metropolitan area, has received a ‘High Performing” designation in U.S. News & World Report’s 2024 list of maternity hospitals across the United States. This survey ranked the leading hospitals in the United States, over 680 in total, and was based on factors most important to parents when choosing the hospital to deliver their baby.

U.S. News evaluated a hospital’s performance in childbirth using metrics including “C-section rates, newborn complication rates, breast milk feeding rates, early elective delivery rates, routine vaginal birth after cesarean delivery (VBAC) rates, episiotomy rates, whether a hospital meets new federal criteria for ‘birthing-friendly’ practices, and whether a hospital tracked and reported their outcomes for patients of different races and ethnicities.”

"I am deeply honored and proud to lead a team at VHC Health that has been recognized by U.S. News and World Report,” said Melody Dickerson, DNP, MSN, RN, CENP, CPHQ, FACHE, Senior Vice President, Hospital Operations & Chief Nursing Officer. “This accolade reflects our unwavering commitment to providing exceptional and compassionate healthcare to women, and it serves as a testament to the dedication and expertise of our incredible team. We strive to empower every woman on their journey, and this recognition reinforces our commitment to excellence in Women's Health Services."

In addition to offering expecting families information on a hospital’s performance in childbirth, the report offers details on services and amenities offered. VHC Health is proud to offer exceptional maternity care, with services including childbirth classes, private rooms, support person overnight amenities, NICU, breastfeeding and lactation consulting, and perinatal and postpartum depressing screening and services.
