VHC Health Receives 5-Star Rating for Overall Hospital Quality from CMS
Arlington, VA (August 2, 2024) – VHC Health, a leading community-based health system serving the Washington, DC metropolitan area, is proud to announce that it has received a 5-star Overall Hospital Quality Rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).
CMS annually assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals based on 46 hospital quality measures, which are categorized into five quality categories: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates and timely and effective care. The Overall Hospital Quality Star Rating (Overall Star Rating) combines a variety of measures from these five areas of quality into a single star rating for each hospital. Only 381 hospitals (8.2%) nationally have received a 5-star rating.
“Achieving a 5-star ranking is a reflection of the high standards we hold ourselves to at VHC Health,” said Christopher T. Lane, CEO and President of VHC Health. “This remarkable achievement is a testament to the unwavering dedication, hard work and commitment to excellence demonstrated by each and every member of VHC Health.”
“Every day, VHC Health strives to provide the highest quality of care and the 5-star rating from CMS underscores those efforts. When it comes to healthcare choices, this is another reason to trust VHC Health,” said Brian Stone, MD, MBA, Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of VHC Health.
Fewer than one in ten hospitals achieves this impressive recognition. As one of these top hospitals, VHC Health remains committed to its mission of providing high-quality, patient-centered care in the community and expanding care options with the opening of new physician offices. This 5-star rating from CMS reaffirms the organization's dedication to excellence and continuous improvement in the health and well-being of those it serves.
