Billing & Financial Assistance
VHC Health is proud of its not-for-profit mission to provide caring healthcare services to patients 24 hours a day 7 days a week regardless of their ability to pay, doing so in an equitable manner and treating them with dignity, respect, and compassion. To achieve this end, VHC Health has established a program to facilitate the provision of financial assistance to uninsured or underinsured patients for eligible services (defined below). Under this program, patients whose household income is less than 200% of the published federal poverty guidelines are provided free care, with respect to the patients’ out of pocket portion of the bill for eligible services ("Financial Assistance"). VHC Health does not provide discounted care under its Financial Assistance Policy.

Self Pay Policy
VHC Health is proud of its not-for-profit mission to provide quality healthcare services to patients 24 hours a day 7 days a week regardless of the ability to pay. To achieve this end, VHC Health has established the self-pay allowance program (20% discount) for ALL patients who do not have insurance and are NOT eligible for financial assistance. This is similar to the discount provided to Managed Care patients. If you do not qualify for financial assistance and anticipate challenges in paying your bill, it is important that you contact our financial counseling office at 703.558.2492. We may be able to arrange a manageable payment plan to facilitate timely settlement of the amount owed. Federal and State laws require all hospitals to seek full payment of what they bill patients. This means we may have to turn unpaid bills over to a collection agency, which could affect your credit status.

Price Transparency
Hospitals are required to post a list of standard charges on their website for items and services provided at the hospital. The list of standardized charges are uniformly applied to all patients, however the total charges may vary from patient to patient depending upon the services provided as a result of the patient’s medical condition and any necessary accommodation provided.
While the list of standardized charges is specific to the Hospital, it fails to provide the true cost (patient out of pocket liability) for a procedure as the patient’s balance due will be determined by various characteristics of a patient’s health insurance, such as if the Hospital is “in or out of network” and the deductible, copay and/or coinsurance requirements of a patient’s health insurance plan.
